Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel. The full fee will be charged if an appointment is missed, or there is a cancellation with less than 24 hrs notice.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes! I maintain a certain number of spots for sliding scale clients. Please contact me to discuss if this would help make quality counselling accessible to you.

Is counselling covered under my insurance benefits?

Counselling offered by a Registered Social Worker is often covered by extended insurance plans. Please contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your coverage.

Do you bill my insurance directly?

No, I do not offer direct billing. After each session I will give you a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance provider.

Do I have to commit to a certain number of sessions or a certain frequency?

No. Counselling is very individual and everyone has different needs. Some people are struggling with a very specific situation and can talk it through in a session or two. For others it may take awhile to build a trusting relationship or the concern has been building for years. In these cases it can take longer to untangle and understand, so it may be helpful to meet more frequently or for longer. Usually at the beginning of counselling I suggest that clients try to come in more often (weekly or biweekly) while we are getting to know each other and then spread sessions out in a way that works for both of us.
