Counselling Services

I practice as a counsellor with a Master’s of Social Work degree. I am a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers and I uphold their code of ethics and standards of practice. Many extended health plans cover counselling services by a Registered Social Worker.

I am passionate about being a social worker and this lens informs the counselling work that I do with clients. Our society has a tendency to label individuals and locate problems within the individual. We often forget to recognize and name the larger social structures and oppressions that are working against many of us and that cause us to feel shame if we are struggling. Along with individual therapeutic techniques, as a social worker I often try to help clients zoom out and see the bigger picture influences that are impacting them and to advocate for them when necessary within those structures. Regardless of what we may have been told, most problems were not created in isolation and they are not going to be healed in isolation, but rather in connection with others.

Below are some of the concerns that I commonly work to address with clients. If you don’t see what you are looking for please get in touch and we can discuss if it’s within my area of practice.
